What was your very first GNU/Linux distribution?

I still remember the day my older brother visited me at home when I was around 12 years old. Windows was the only operating system I knew back then. He knew I was really into computers and video games, so he brought with him a live CD of Knoppix and showed me how to boot the complete operating system from the CD. And that is how my adventure with GNU/Linux began.

Living in Germany at the time it was natural for me to try S.u.S.E. Linux. I was still in school, maybe 15 or 16 years old. So I went into a book store and bought a box!

I began to realize that SuSE used a very different approach to configure the system and that YaST in fact was proprietary. So I tried a few other distributions until I switched to Debian Potato. Debian was one of the first operating systems which could be installed from an USB stick. I stayed faithful with Debian until this year because I had better things to do than finding the best GNU distribution.
