Transitioning our source code to the MIT License

Hello everyone,

I want to let you know about an upcoming change regarding the licensing of the project’s source code.

Starting with version 3.0.0 (coming soon), the source code will be released under the MIT License. This decision replaces the previous GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 (AGPLv3) and reflects the latest changes in the source code. As you may know, I’ve recently completed the migration to Markdown. With this change all PHP code was removed and the only source code left now are some boring Makefiles, Dockerfiles, and Python scripts for project management, so switching to the more permissive MIT license felt like a natural move.

Please note that this change applies only to the source code. The project’s content and translations will remain under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0). This means that while you’re free to use, modify, and share the source code under MIT terms, the content retains its existing CC BY-SA 4.0 license.

I value transparency and community input, so if you have any questions or concerns about this change, please feel free to post them here. I’m happy to discuss the implications and rationale behind this update.

Thank you for your continued support and contributions to the project.
